Battleblock Theater near Completion, says The Behemoth

A post on Joystiq from yesterday offers a brief, but exciting, update on one of the games I’ve been eagerly anticipating for a long, long time: Battleblock Theater from The Behemoth. That’s the same developer for the XBLA classic, Castle Crashers, not to mention Alien Hominid for PS2, GameCube, and the original Xbox.

They’re one of those developers that makes games with a unique voice and style, but lacks the big back catalog that some of the other fan-favorite studios can boast. Castle Crashers came out way back in 2008, and since then, I’ve waited patiently for Battleblock Theater. I really, really want this game, because I know it will be fun as hell. Sadly, we’re still without a release date.

But Joystiq spoke with the game’s project manager, Emil Ayoubkhan, who said that the game had “passed its code complete milestone just before San Diego Comic-Con.” Apparently there are only a few more levels to finish and that “every day is one step closer to a final version.”

Any news about Battleblock Theater is big news to me. Anyone else out there as excited about this game as I am? I think I should get back to playing Castle Crashers in the meantime…that game was too damn good.

I’m totally excited for Battleblock Theater! I was a huge fan of Castle Crashers and Alien Hominid! I can remember my brother playing the Alien Hominid flash game way back when on Newgrounds…ah man, good times. I’m really excited to see what happens to Two Emotion Man (the player’s alleged character) and Hatty! :D
