My Xbox LIVE App Gives iPad Control of Console
A couple weeks ago, I was playing The Amazing Spider-Man on the Xbox, and Lawrence “Mr. Blog” Sonntag was playing at the same time. We chatted about the experience via Xbox LIVE messages, and I soon realized how much I hated typing out my messages with the controller. That’s when I downloaded the My Xbox LIVE app for my Android phone—suddenly, typing messages was not only easy, but fun! Hooray for app!
But, sadly, the total joy of controlling my Xbox via my smartphone still eluded me. Only the version of the app for the iPhone could do that—and today, it seems, the iPad has joined the Xbox-controlling fun, while Android users are still using controllers like a bunch of suckers.
In truth, the ability to control the console via smartphone or tablet isn’t really that important—but that ability is going to be part of SmartGlass, one of the more interesting looking ideas from Microsoft’s E3 conference last month. I’d love to be able to take the functionality for a spin today…but I guess I’ll have to wait.
So, iOS users—give it a try, let us know how it goes.
