Battlefield 4 Announced, Multiplayer Beta in Fall 2013

battlefield4

Battlefield 4 has been semi-officially announced as of this morning by none other than its publisher Electronic Arts, and will (surprisingly enough), host its official multiplayer beta in Fall 2013. The game is being developed by DICE.

EA confirmed early today that those mentions of a Battlefield 4 beta attached to pre-orders of Medal of Honor: Warfighter Limited Edition are, in fact, true – and that all players who pre-order the game before its release on October 23 will receive exclusive access to the beta.

“Though Battlefield and Medal of Honor Warfighter each offer players a completely unique experience, they are united by their underlying technology base – Frostbite. These are two of the hottest shooters, coming together to deliver a one-two punch of action, intensity and shooter entertainment,” mentioned Frank Gibeau, President of EA Labels.

Given that Battlefield 3 still has plenty of downloadable content coming down the pipeline, you certainly shouldn’t feel weird for thinking that this is (perhaps) a bit too early to be expecting (and announcing, for that matter) Battlefield 4. After all, Battlefield 3 came out nine months ago.

With that said, what are your thoughts? Are you ready for another Battlefield already?

Battlefield 3 and Medal of Honor are starting to become EA’s MW3 and Black Ops. Each game coming out biannualy to have a annual game of either. I am 100% sure that if Medal of Honor makes profit there will be a new one in 2015. Though battlefield came out in 2011.

I totally agree with this. In fairness I bet the game won’t launch until early 2014, but that is a crazy contrast from the time between BF2 and 3.

Interesting. I thought that bad company 3 would be announced instead and it would be a launch title for the new consoles.

      Or even 2143, me wants!

I mean Call of duty gives us a game every year and black ops put out dlc like about 2 months before MW3 so at least they’re leaving a little bit more of a grace period.

I was really pissed until I saw Fall 2013, seems right to me I just wish, but it is kind of a slap in the face to not give BETA access to Premium member, Medal of Honor is barely Gamefly material much less preorder, who are these people that preorder Medal of Honor? I almost understand paying $60 for beta access more than buying medal of honor. I still have not even played BF3 single player and I have played BF3 for 140 hours, single player games are RPGs and shooters like Rage and Halo not BFand MW modern military single player games are wholly uninteresting to me after playing 8 of them in the last 2 years

Good point, I agree and think Premium members should totally receive beta access. I didn’t bite, but damn, what a slap to the supporters of BF3. Right after they stop supporting BF3, they throw us a new dish to play with.

I guess they’re keeping us company with something while they make BF4, but it still feels weird. I also would have liked a BC3 instead.

Heh, the beta is more of demo is most likely going to used merely as a marketing tool for EA. They did the same thing for BF3 and I wouldn’t be surprised if history repeated itself. Also I doubt this is going to be an exclusive beta because, once again, history will most likely repeat itself.

      I would say calm down.
i reckon preordering medal of honor is only 1 way of aqcuiring access to the beta. I reckon bf premium members will get their acces as well, so dont worry about that.

And i was going crazy about not wanting bf4, but thinking about it. it will probably release summer 2014, so everyone calm down. BF is not being CODed.

Dice has explicitly stated they believe that a GOOD game takes more than a year to develop. This is EA not DICE.

I’m surprised that I couldn’t see this coming… it is EA after all, the destroyer of games and devourer of money

    Yo retards, look at history,
    battlefield bad company-2008
    BFBC2-2010
    BF3-2011
    BF4-2013
if your moaning at anything it should be that bf3 was released too early
and that bf4 has been announced too early

You do realize that BF3 was in development for five years before it was published, right? The bad company games were a knock-off of the original games, such as BF2, BF:V, BF1942, etc. so they took less time to develop. The thing everyone’s worrying about here is that they’re calling it Battlefield 4, when a real battlefield game should be in development for a lot longer then practically a year. Hopefully it’s actually Bad Company 3 instead of Battlefield 4.

I bought Medal of Honor just so I could have “exclusive” access to the Battlefield 3 beta for pre ordering and buying the game. In the end the BF3 beta went public and I shelled out $60.00 for a game I traded in a few months later. Not doing that again.

    As Ron Burgundy would say;

    “Well…….that escalated quickly”

are they perhaps hoping to have a 2 large communities playing, like cs 1.6 and source…thats pretty hilarious.
but if not, why would EA do something like that if dlc is coming and will still come to BF3,i think they said that because they are tired of earing people only talking about the STEAM SUMMER SALE, and they got a little lonely(people aren’t spending as much money on ORIGIN ) and because they wanted a little bit of attention they dropped that bomb…but still..im wasting my time here not playing the games i bought on the STEAM SUMMER SALE.

Bad move on their part. I know they’d like to capitalize on the Battlefield 3 name and success but with the DLCs left and Premium just announced, it would make more sense for them to just get as much money out of Medal of Honor first and then focus on Battlefield. As many have suggested, why not another Bad Company? The Battlefield franchise is not the COD franchise and the fans aren’t COD fans. I have seen literally 0 Battlefield fans excited or even mildly happy about these news. EA wants to turn the franchise into their own COD, and make a legitimate competitor out of it. But seeing it as it’s EA and EA ruins everything they touch, I doubt we’ll be seeing any success anytime soon.

If you sign up for Battlefield Platinum you will get BF4-BF6 all as a one time fee, plus gimicks! And you only pay 400 days ahead of actually recieving your purchase.

Wtf guys? BF3 just released and warfighter is gonna release just calm down ffs..

  16. Posted by 240_bravo on 07 December 12 at 12:54pm

I think they should wait till next gen consoles to release a new battlefield game. The thing about the battlefield series is that they make so many changes and add so much to new titles and while I am somewhat of a fan of CoD I must admit that they don’t change much. But cod can’t change due to its time schedule. They can’t change their engine and they lack the components to add to their games. If EA is trying to pull an annual shooter then they will ruin the series. It’s easy to see that they rushed moh warfighter so bf4 will be following in the failed footsteps of moh. Fuck off EA you are better than activision so let the guys at dice work and create another amazing game rather than a repeat of the last one!!!
