Disney’s Wreck-It Ralph Appearing in Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed
I’m pretty excited about Disney’s forthcoming movie based on video game classics, Wreck-It Ralph, which stars a John C. Reiley-voiced Donkey Kong analogue who hops from game to game to find his new calling. So it’s kind of interesting how news broke today that Ralph himself would be appearing in Sega’s Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, which will also feature Danica Patrick as a racer, because of course it does.
The director of the movie, Rich Moore, was pretty jazzed about Ralph’s inclusion in the game:
“To have Wreck-It Ralph included in Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed is a dream come true. The film pays homage to the video games I loved as a kid, including Sonic the Hedgehog in a special cameo, so being able to see Wreck-It Ralph in a real video game alongside Sonic and other iconic SEGA characters is unbelievably exciting for me and should be a treat for fans!”
The game is set to be released for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, Nintendo 3DS, Wii U, and Windows PC in November…which should coincide with the release of the movie in theaters as well. While I really don’t care much about this game (a Mario Kart clone with Sega characters), I do like the bit of synergy. Maybe they’ll work this game into the movie! It’d be kind of neat to imagine that playing as Ralph is kind of like playing a scene from the film…

This game’s more than just a “Mario Kart clone”… Mario Kart doesn’t have real boating physics and flight dynamics. It just has a shitty gliding gimmick and underwater driving, which is literally exactly the same as normal driving, only slower. The boat physics in this game are actual ones, like the kind you’d have in Waverace or Hydro Thunder. And gliding is not flying with jets, doing barrel rolls and other cool stuff, which this game has. Mario Kart delivers a sluggish and terrible sense of speed even on 150cc whereas this game has you going ludicrously fast.
And finally Mario Kart does not have Vyse from Skies of Arcadia. MK is inferior.
No idea about this upgraded version, but the original on Wii was pretty crappy.
The Wii version of the last game sucked (doesn’t the Wii version of EVERYTHING suck?) but the 360/PS3 versions of the last game were great. The Xbox 360 even had Banjo-Kazooie and Xbox Avatars as exclusive playable characters.
