Michael Fassbender to Star in Assassin’s Creed Movie
Today, Variety reported that Michael Fassbender—really, the only part of Prometheus that was worth watching—will be starring in the forthcoming Assassin’s Creed film. Fassbender will also serve as a coproducer of the movie, though it’s not clear what role he’ll play, nor what character or characters the movie will revolve around.
Jean-Julien Baronnet, the CEO of Ubisoft Motion Pictures, offered his view of the casting:
“Michael Fassbender was our first choice. Michael is an extremely smart, talented, versatile and committed actor.”
According to the article, Ubisoft Motion Pictures is working to produce the film independently and set it up with a distributor later on in an effort to retain more creative control. It makes sense—if it had sold the film rights to another production house, there’s no telling what the final product would’ve wound up like. This way, the people who made the game are pretty much the same people who are making the movie.
I’m interested! I’m intrigued! This thing might not be a disaster!

it’s going to be the best movie ever unless they make a halo movie
I’m looking forward to hearing more. We all know movie recreations of games tend to be… crap.
I’m hoping it works out, I really want this to work out. Assassin’s Creed is one of my top game series, and I don’t want to see it destroyed by a crappy movie, but if it ends up being good, I can’t even imagine how good the series will be to me after that.
