Resident Evil 6 Demo Available Today for Xbox Dragon’s Dogma Owners

By Brian P Rubin | 03 July 2012 | 11 Comments

Did you buy a copy of Dragon’s Dogma from Capcom? Did you buy it for the Xbox 360? If you answered yes to both of those questions, then you’re able to play the brand-spankin’ new Resident Evil 6 demo that Capcom has released on Xbox LIVE today.

Now, there are probably a lot of people who answered “no” and “I already said ‘no’” to the above questions, and for you, I’m sorry. You will not get to play today’s demo. But you WILL be able to take a look at Machinima’s gameplay videos of Resident Evil 6, which went live today. That’s something right? Sure it is. Gameplay featuring Chris at the top of the post, Leon and Jake below:

just wow…… capcoms reputation is already shit and now they pull this crap really………….. ugh their luck i’m buying the PS3 special edition so I can get all of the old games on that console………….. but this is likely the last game I buy from capcom ever. They rank a one of the companies who i’m beginning to despise. So sad the way its going there won’t be any developers with decent games anymore.

Dragon’s Dogma was a good enough game to warrant this. The core gameplay was brilliantly executed, I loved that game to death. And then the NPC’s started talking… hmm…
Your angst towards Capcom is quite comical. I feel that they are hardly the worst game companies out there (EA *cough* Origin DRM bull*cough*).

You also argue that soon there won’t be any developers with decent games, which is total bollocks. This is obviously an over-generalization based on your lack of research in the advancements of game mechanics and storytelling aspects of some of the newer games that are and have been released. Quite honestly, I’m excited to see how the gaming industry will change over the next ten years. Skyrim was a complete dissapointment to me, despite the fact that I played that thing to death. It’s lack-luster story, clunky game mechanics and UI along with the poor textures turned me off from it, I only stayed so I could mod it to hell and back. It’s a buggy game with the tell-tale signs of an unfinished game, and from that I found myself wishing Bethesda would go spoon a glaive. Then they go out of their way to make Dishonored, which looks like it will be the most promising game to come out this year. And for that, I just might forgive them…

For Capcom, yes, I understand the concern over their locked DLC on the retail game disks and it is rather annoying to have to buy content for a game that you already own. Even so, Dragon’s Dogma is a great game despite its major flaws (plot? lol wuts that?). So what if they have DLC coming out almost every week that is locked on the disk? Don’t buy it. I’ll tell you what; they aren’t that great. Capcom really needed to cash in on DD because of how much they put into it’s development. DD is to Capcom as The Last Guardian is to Sony in that only the die hard fans of DD (me) would buy every DLC and thank them for it. It does two things: 1) Let me have more to do. There’s never enough Cyclops’s whom are in dire need of having their eyes gouged out. And 2) Helps fund for a sequel to DD; Most preferably with a better story and a lack of K-Pop in the title screen. I get it, it sucks for Capcom to be cheating people out of their money for their bs DLC policies, but some of their games deserve it. Feel free to be cheap and not buy the DLC, I support the dev’s growth (not to say that I approve of DLC, just that I support good games). On a side-note, please, Sony, keep funding The Last Guardian. I will buy twelve copies if only to have one more game in the ICO collection T.T

Besides that, they will probably release the demo to everyone soon enough for you to calm yourself and enjoy the fact that you can now run and shoot at the same time in a Resident Evil game. Progression! Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got some zombies running around the city needing their skulls removed from their torsos…

I understadn your view point regarding the gaming industry, but the reality is that it seems like the larger publishers are choking out the market making it one of those situations where its either follow their lead or fail, because of their trends we have to suffer with many gaming companies. Don’t get me wrong there are a few developers and publishers I like but that number is thinning monthly. The ones that piss me off the most are EA(The very ideal of evil), Activision(you name it they ruined it), 2k games(duke nukem bs and other atrocities), Ubisoft post assasins creed 3( I don’t outright hate them but they are starting to annoy the hell out of me), Capcom(destruction of many series that I grew up with, DLC and business practices), Sony(customer service and lack luster support for their consoles), XBOX(nickle and dime machine),Nintendo(what happened to them first they go all gimmicky and then they destroy their greatest character by trying to make it a lifetime movie heres looking at you metroid other M). I’m beginning to believe that all of these companies are working together to shift the market in the direction they want it to go in. Sure you can say its business but I say its an oligopoly, just like the oil industry, I applaud companies like rock star or cd projekt red or the team that made torchlight because through some miracle they are freeing themselves from the mold, maybe just maybe they can topple the giants.

Now if only valve would make half life three, then I could count them as one good game developers at this point they are just a software developer.

I am surprised by the lack of Sega in that list of publishers haha. They delayed Anarchy Reigns, a game that’s been completed since May, until February of next year because they plan to develop their own gaming console…
I understand you concern fully on how the gaming industry will turn out; however, this is the same concern that has almost always existed and yet we continue to get some of the greatest games available. EA releases the Dead Space series, Mass Effect (Bioware, but whatever), and they have Battlefield as some grade A games, despite a few technical issues with the story in one game… that I won’t mention… Green, blue, or red…
Even so, they’ve come out with some crappers recently, what with Syndicate and Kingdoms of Amalur, which was fun, but it was only slightly less immersive as a kiddie pool.

Activision is a gaming company that’s just looking to go bankrupt. They are riding the Call of Duty coat tails for the past couple of years. And the one game they developed that would have brought them back on top, True Crime: Hong Kong, was cancelled after they announced that it was 90% completed. They did so because they didn’t think TC had a wide enough audience. God bless Square Enix for picking TC: Hong Kong up and making it Sleeping Dogs *raises fist to air*

2K Games is a great gaming company with Duke Nukem hanging in their window trying to help their credibility. 2K Games has made Spec Ops: The Line, the Bioshock series, The Darkness series, Anarchy Reigns (curse you, Sega), and the Borderlands series. They keep close to their fanbase and actively rip on their publishers whenever something goes wrong with the release date of a game (Sega, if you didn’t already see this coming). If any gaming company is going to speak for the gamer community, I would nominate these guys.

Ubisoft makes some high quality games, despite the fact that most of them are copy and paste re-hashings of their prequels. I appreciate their business, at the least.

Capcom has annoying DLC issues, but they own Street Fighter. ’nuff said.

Sony’s lack of customer service is hardly an issue a google search can’t fix, people just don’t want to fix it themselves. I was able to figure out how to restore my PSN account after the hacker incident through one simple post in an online forum. Got my Parasite Eve and FF7 back ^.^ and let’s not forget that they are the sole reason I have played two of the greatest games of all time (SotC and ICO). Besides that, they are trying to be Valve in that Sony games tend to be of the higher quality. And that’s why I continue to support them.

          Xbox sucks.
          Nintendo can get blown.
Valve has Steam, so I can wait for Half Life 3.

My apologies, after researching a bit more, it was Platinum Games that made Anarchy Reigns. So disregard every argument for 2k games with any mentioning of Sega and/or Anarchy Reigns or them being a voice of the gaming community. Oops.

We took over the comment section. Let’s start talking RE6: Demo. It’s pretty fun, I’m very happy.
