Independence Yay: PSN and XBLA Sales
As many of you may know, Independence Day commemorates the founding of our great United States of America. And as such, there’s LITERALLY no better way to celebrate that bold statement against tyranny than with deep discounts on video games.
The folks over at IGN did the world a favor by listening to the Official PlayStation Blogcast, and in doing so, sussed out a number of PlayStation Network games that will get discounted starting on July 3. It’s not clear how long the games will be on sale for, but regular PSN gamers will get a 30 percent discount, while PlayStation Plus subscribers will get a whopping 50 percent off the regular prices:
- Closure
- Crysis
- Infamous: Festival of Blood
- Jurassic Park: The Game
- Killzone 3 (Multiplayer)
- NBA Jam: On Fire Edition
- Pac-Man Championship Edition DX
- Real Steel
- Renegade Ops
- Shadow of the Colossus HD
- The House of the Dead III
- Worms: Ultimate Mayhem
Hmmm! Never got a chance to play Shadow of the Colossus, myself. Think I might partake…
As for Xbox gamers, there isn’t quite as much joy to be had, but there’s still a solid game on offer. Joystiq reports that Trine 2 is getting discounted to half price (putting it at 600 Microsoft Points) for just this weekend, exclusively for Xbox LIVE Gold members. If you haven’t played Trine 2, I heartily recommend it. It’s one of the best platformers to come out in quite some time, not to mention an absolute blast to play cooperatively online or locally. Great game, great deal.
Happy Independence Day. Now stay inside and play video games. It’s what the Founding Fathers would’ve wanted.
