wii u price speculation

A post on CVG reports that an unnamed executive in the game publishing biz has claimed that Nintendo’s Wii U console will wind up costing below £250. When converted into US currency, £250 translates to about $380. So does that mean we can count on the console costing around $350 maybe?

Over the last few days and weeks, we’ve heard repeatedly about how Nintendo will be pricing the console reasonably, and that they’ve learned from their mistake with the overpriced 3DS handheld. Hopefully that’ll be true and the console won’t break the bank. But at this point, not only does the company need really affordable pricing, it still needs to make a case for why anyone would bother buying it in the first place. There hasn’t been too much in the way of new, exciting games that are getting people’s juices flowing…but I guess we’ll have to wait and see. Maybe an attractive, budget-conscious price is all it’ll take?

At this point, I just want the console to come with an actual game *cough* Pikman3/Rayman *cough* for about $350. You know to give the console a little more merit over it’s competitors

Bear in mind the UK list price includes VAT (Sales Tax basically) at 20%. That puts the US equivalent price at around $330. So list price probably closer to $299
