Guild Wars 2 Release Date Finally Announced

This morning, ArenaNet sent out a press release to announce that their long-awaited MMO, Guild Wars 2, would finally be available for purchase on August 28. That’s, like, in two months! Blam!

President and co-founder of ArenaNet, Mike O’Brien, offered this statement on the company finally giving up the goods:

“We’re offering gamers an experience that delivers on the promise of online gaming with a truly social experience in an immense, shared world. After five years of creation, development, and polish, announcing the launch date of Guild Wars 2 is a huge milestone for us, but the thing we’re most looking forward to is seeing gamers from all over the globe explore this world and begin creating their own stories.”

That’s not all: there’s going to be one more final beta testing weekend next month, running from July 20 to July 22.

Like many people, I’ve been waiting on this game for years. When I saw their “Get Ready” video, I was shocked to see they plan to launch it in only two months. Cannot wait.
