Rumor: Call of Duty: Black Ops Coming to Mac OSX via Steam?

Activision and Treyarch may be planning a Mac OSX release of 2010’s Call of Duty: Black Ops, if the recently updated Steam database records are any indication. The online tracker draws data directly from Steam servers and highlights any changes – with recent updates appearing to be an OSX-specific listing of Call of Duty: Black Ops along with its handful of DLC packs – First Strike, Escalation, Annihilation, and Rezurrection.

According to the records, this content was added on June 23, 2012 – mere days ago, and right under our noses! While many will be skeptical of the likelihood of a Mac release of a 2010 game, it should be noted that the Steam database records have tipped us off on game releases before – most notably outing Superbrothers: Swords and Sworcery EP and Alan Wake’s American Nightmare and their release on Steam shortly after.

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare was the last iteration in the franchise to see a Mac release, so we can’t say for sure how likely it’s to occur for Black Ops, but we’ll let you know when we hear more…if we do hear more.
