Amazing Spider-Man Launch Trailer is Full of Garbage
Did you know that Activision’s new Amazing Spider-Man video game—based on the movie reboot that comes out next week—is available in stores TODAY? I did. That’s because I pre-ordered that bitch. It’s in a brown truck, on its way to my apartment right now. To get you in the mood for web-swinging action that might actually be pretty great, take a look at the above trailer, featuring music from a band I didn’t know existed anymore, Garbage.
Now, I know what you’re saying: “Brian! Beenox’s last Spider-Man game wasn’t too hot.” I know. I reviewed it. I was THERE. But this one might be different. I played a demo of the 3DS version (that’s available now on the Nintendo eShop, don’tcha know), and it was actually really fun. And my thinking is thus: if they can manage to capture some really good Spider-Man action on the 3DS, the home console version’s got to be at least pretty competent, right? Right?
Well, hopefully I’ll find out later today. Our own Landon Robinson will be handling the review of the new jammy, while I continue to plug away at detailing the evolution of Spider-Man video games since his Atari 2600 debut back in the ‘80s in our All Your History feature. ENJOY IT, WON’T YOU?
What do you think? I’m pretty excited about this game…but maybe that excitement will be my downfall…

I am a bit scared. I have been affiliating movie released games (Like Avatar: The Game) with horrible gameplay and story mechanics. If this game can actually be a woth while game, I may decide to break this stereotyping. Maybe.
Keep in mind that the development cycle on most movie games are incredibly short, which is often the reason we have a crappy result.
However, Beenox has had over two years to work on this game, a bit more than their past games have allowed.
AND, one of the greatest Spider-Man games was the adaptation of the Spider-Man 2 movie…so I’m really, really hoping that they pull this off. I can’t wait to read your review, dude. LEGIT.
