UPDATED: Valve and Adult Swim to Collaborate on TF2 Project

UPDATE

Valve has announced “Pyromania,” an update for Team Fortress 2, and that the animated short, “Meet the Pyro,” will debut on Wednesday, June 27. Will we see it on Adult Swim? Possibly. Maybe more. “Pyromania” will offer a new gameplay mode and map, “Doomsday,” which is described thusly:

“Doomsday pits BLU against RED, with only one team getting the honor of transporting a suitcase nuke full of recalled Mann Co. Australium to American monkeynaut Poopy Joe’s rocket, so he can blast off and hunt down Soviet space chimp Vladimir Bananas. It’s the same spirit of competitive enterprise that stalled the moon landing by three years when Buzz Aldrin suplexed Neil Armstrong into a pile of folding chairs at Astromania ’69! Both teams will attempt to get the necessary fuel up a preposterously slow-moving elevator and into Poopy Joe’s Australium-powered rocket to the stars.”

In short, it’s a good time to be a Valve fan. Unless, you know, you want Half-Life 3 or something. In that case, you’re SOL.

Over the weekend, the folks over at Adult Swim left the above teaser image on their website, with the following text:

“Coming next week: Adult Swim & Valve are teaming up for something that you’ll probably enjoy. To learn how their video game peanut butter will be getting in our network’s chocolate, come back next week. Also: you’ll want to sign up for the newsletter. You’ve been warned.”

Considering the image, and the fact that the page invites you to Tweet with the #teamfortress hash tag, it seems pretty clear that we’ve got a Team Fortress 2-based animated series to look forward to in the near future. This will be good, I guarantee it.

If only they put together a Portal show with them wacky robots and JK Simmons back in the voice-acting saddle.
