Next MW3 DLC Could Contain MW2 Map Remakes
As pointed out in a YouTube video from user Coolyer1, two potentially new maps for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 have been found, and might actually be throwbacks to maps from the previous game, Modern Warfare 2.
Discovered and detailed by the all-too-originally-named site CallofDutyMapPacks.com, the new maps entitled “Terminal” & “Shipbreaker” mysteriously appeared on the map list in a private match on a young lad’s PlayStation 3 system recently. When he tried to play them (as you’ll see in the video) however, they disappeared entirely.
Additionally, the Shipbreaker map is recognized by the code system as MPUI_BOARDWALK, inferring that the final title might be Boardwalk instead. The site goes on to speculate that this map might be a new Face Off map similar to Rust from MW2, a personal favorite/hated map of mine.
Terminal might be a throwback to…well, Terminal (from MW2). Oddly, it might also be free, if an old quote from ex-creative strategist Robert Bowling is to be believed:
“If we want to do a throwback map, let that be outside the DLC model, let it be free, let it be to everyone.”
But my guess is, that’s not going to happen.
The newest DLC for Modern Warfare 3 is slated to launch before the end of the month – I guess we’ll have to wait until around then to see just how correct (or completely wrong) we are.
