Announced today was the support of ranked dedicated PC servers for Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, courtesy of a tweet from the game’s technical director Cesar Stastny.

While this decision in favor of dedicated servers is most certainly a celebrated one in the PC Call of Duty community, the franchise itself has been notably indecisive on when and when not to include support.

For example, Modern Warfare 2 from Infinity Ward lacked dedicated server support, while Black Ops from Treyarch included it. Last year’s Modern Warfare 3 from Infinity Ward/Sledgehammer Games supported the feature, but the servers weren’t actually ranked (meaning leveling and unlocks weren’t available).

Regardless, Black Ops 2 will allow you to host your own dedicated servers (as silly of rules as they might have) starting November 13 this year when the game launches.

Great! Now if only it was going to be a decent game, someone might care.

Have they said anyone on FOV options in-game? Infinity Ward actually promised an FOV slider for MW3, and as far as I’m aware, it is still not implemented, so I have to use third party software to change the FOV myself.

Yes, MW3 for PC has server browsing options. You have to turn it on under the options menu.

He’s talking about Field of View, which has no relation to server browsing.

Now if only we could get some dedicated servers on consoles…
