ATTENTION MACHINIMA WARRIORS!

Mamoru Oshii, the legendary director of Ghost in the Shell, the masterpiece anime film released in 1995, has a very special message for you!

The creative visionary whose work has influenced some of the most influential movie-makers of the past thirty years was so taken by the story-telling both outside the the mechanized tanks of Steel Battalion, and within its metal confines, that he has crafted a live-action movie to introduce and showcase military life in this devastated world.

And, dear readers, he’s taken the time to speak to you directly about his motivations. So since he made the efforts, it’s damn rude to ignore the legend, so check out this Welcome video to the world of Steel Battalion, and then dive in and witness the full effect in the live-action short.

Especially for you, cos, well, you know…

And the live-action trailer for Capcom’s Steel Battalion

And as some context:

“Award winning director Mamoru Oshii (Ghost in the Shell, Avalon) presents, in collaboration with Capcom, Steel Battalion Heavy Armor: Gosha, a live action film based on the upcoming Capcom release Steel Battalion Heavy Armor.Steel Battalion Heavy Armor: Gosha focuses on Polish Vertical Tank pilot Gosha who, like Sgt. Powers from the game, commands her own VT squad. Follow Gosha as she goes to war, but it’s not just a war between global factions, but also the conflict that exists among those under her command.”
