A post on Joystiq offers information about the road ahead for THQ from its recently appointed president Jason Rubin (no relation). Rubin explains that Guillermo del Toro’s “Insane” trilogy is “still in the slate,” and that everything is very fluid for the company in the foreseeable future.

“I’m taking every project as clay, a clay statue that’s been built. It’s not nearly been completed. It can be augmented, it can be shrunk, it can be changed. Everything is up for change to make the best possible product that could be.”

Rubin also commented on the company’s staff, which experienced plenty of cuts in recent months as the company’s financial situation worsened:

“We have the appropriate number of teams and the appropriate number of people working on products, and we’re not gonna be continuing to cut teams. But as far as product goes, I think we’ll have to find out exactly where that’s going.”

Hopefully Rubin’s leadership will help steer the company toward safer waters this year. God knows things couldn’t really get much worse over there.

After his speech at DICE, I’m prepared to believe Mr. Rubin knows what he’s doing.
