Mass Effect 3 Extended Cut Finished and “Earth” DLC Details Leaked Online
A Reddit user named derptemp6698 has posted with claims that the long-awaited Mass Effect 3: Extended Cut DLC is finished—you know, that thing that’s supposed to fix the ending to the game that pissed everyone off a few months ago. Wait, you forgot? Really? But you were so mad! Well, anyway…
The user didn’t actually reveal any information that wasn’t already known, but he claims that the DLC pack is finished:
“An expanded ending for Mass Effect 3. Additional scenes and an extended epilogue reveal the impact of Shepard’s choices on the future of the galaxy.”
In addition, derptemp6698 did actually spill some info on something we didn’t already know about: forthcoming DLC called, simply, “Earth”:
“The fighting is fiercest when it’s your home at stake! Mass Effect 3: Earth adds mods, gear, and new maps for Rio, Vancouver, and London. It features 3 new weapons: Piranha assault shotgun, Acolyte pistol, and Typhoon light machine gun. Six new human N7 classes are also available: Destroyer, Paladin, Demolisher, Slayer, Shadow, and Fury!”
Now that is interesting. And furthermore, this user accurately posted information on the previous DLC, “Rebellion,” prior to its reveal, so it’s safe to say that this person has some kind of inside track.
Well, there you go. Are you excited about Mass Effect 3 again? Or are you still having too much fun playing Battleship?

I only did one play through with my good Shepard because of the ending. I’m eagerly waiting for this DLC so I can start running my other SIX SHEPARD’S! Also, just so we’re all clear, the whole indoctrination theory is fine! I could roll with it! However, not giving us various endings is what pissed me off. If these cut scenes actually make a difference, I’ll put my faith back in Bioware… Maybe.
Mwahahhaahahahahahahah!!!!! >:D
Then when Shepard beats the indoctrination and wakes up, he wakes up under the rubble of his pod because his willpower enabled him to break free of the Matrix…Then he replaces Neo as The One.
It’s the perfect evil plan from Bioware!!!!
Mwahahhaahahahahahahah!!!!! >:D
hell yea, i have like 2 sheps on hold for the final misison
well, this is not exactly the most official thing but hell ill take it. i am really counting on this extended cut (hope it is still “free”) to make me play again mass effect 3. i hope they based it on the indrocrination theory because so far, everything makes sense with it and it is also the easiest way to introduce the (biggest) missing chunk of plot into the game. But whatever it ends up being, i have my fingers crossed.
No matter how they try and explain that ending, it’s too late. The damage is done and it shall be forever stained with the tears of mass effect fans everywhere.
I love how the author assumes we forgot about mass effect 3, we didn’t we just grew disgusted with the silent treatment to the point where most of us are adopting a beleive it when I see it approach and moving on to other games like max payne 3 or D3 also it seems that the number three is cursed lately, except for MP3.
Believe me, I don’t think anyone here forgot the bitch-fit about Mass Effect 3.
And no one ever shall… I’ll make damn sure of it… >:)
Really, Machinima? You’re citing someone on Reddit named derptemp6698 as a news source? Paragons of journalism, right here.
I think they are only using him as a source because he was the same guy that predicted every detail of the rebellion pack a month before it even leaked out to Sony. He obviously has some sort of connection at bioware, the prediction last time was too spot on for it to have been simple luck.
I wouldn’t get my hopes up. Anyone’s expectations of how this will go down needs to realize that Bioware believed its ending to be a work of art. As part of a gaming FAQ on the mass effect home page, “Though we remain committed and are proud of the artistic choices we made in the main game, we are aware that there are some fans who would like more closure to Mass Effect 3. The goal of the DLC is not to provide a new ending to the game, rather to offer fans additional context and answers to the end of Commander Shepard’s story.” That being said, some are fine with more answers being given to how the ending went down however I have a simple theory. I’ll start with an example, do you know that feeling when you make a perfect macaroni picture and you want to show your parents only to see them snicker a little and say sarcastically “good art work Jimmy”. Now imagine Bioware as little jimmy and the gaming community as the parents. Based on the context of the quote earlier, we can only presume that their so called ending was a master piece when they came up with it and after some time of the release they felt but-hurt about 70% of the community hating it. I’m going to see what Bioware will do about the DLC but I don’t think it will change much at all
Their fans (including myself) didn’t get pissed because of a conflict in the concept of art. The fans lashed out because the promise of having unique endings based on the previous games was not backed up. The ending was touching. I honestly felt satisfaction. I felt it was creative and artistic of Bioware. The only thing that changed after beating ME3 is the fact that I’m never going to take what Bioware promises for granted, whether or not crunch time causes the problem. Why did I back up six different Shep’s just to paint the galaxy one of three colors? Bioware dropped the ball and now people think the fans lashed out because of artistic view and not the fact that Bioware never held up the promise of a diverse ending… However, as I said, the ending is fine. They shouldn’t add the DLC. And I’m not buying another Bioware product again. :/
Let’s save some hate for EA eh, there’s plenty of blame to go around. I’m not saying that Bioware is blameless is all this, far from it. But I also think it’s unfair to only blame Bioware. I don’t see a dev studio like Bioware, with so many great games under their belt suddenly changing their attitude and saying, “meh, let’s include less stuff in our game”. I think, and I have absolutely zero proof of this, that EA had more to do with the ending than Bioware did.
I did not forget about the BS ME3 ending. Stop being a troll baiting fucktard.
Brian’s going to put this on his business card.
