Today, Namco Bandai announced that Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto will be providing their voices for Kirk and Spock, respectively, to the upcoming Star Trek video game based on the new movie franchise launched in 2009. Not only that, but the rest of the main cast will be on hand to bring their characters to life as well: Zoe Saldana as Uhura, Simon Pegg as Scotty, Karl Urban as Bones, John Cho as Sulu, and Anton Yelchin as Chekov.

Not only that, but the villains that the crew of the Enterprise will face has also been revealed. Remember the Gorn? This guy:

HE’S IN THE GAME. But not just one—the whole danged lizard-faced race. That is fantastic. According to a press release Namco Bandai sent out, the Gorn play a large role as antagonists in the new game.

Said Paramount SVP and lead game producer Brian Miller:

“The Gorn are among the most iconic villains in the Star Trek universe and their role in this game certainly lives up to that persona. Kirk and Spock find themselves in an incredibly challenging amount of mayhem as they confront the Gorn throughout the game.”

Very, very nice. Star Trek is set after the events of the first film, and presumably before the events of the next film, though I do wonder whether or not we’ll see any Gorn in the new movie. Probalby not. Anyway, it’s set to come out for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC in early 2013.
