Rumor: Diablo III for PS3 Leaked?

A post on Eurogamer reports that RedCoon, an online retailer based in Germany has a pre-order listing for Diablo III on the PlayStation 3 at a price of €66.66 (haha get it). The listing even has “screenshots” from the “PS3” game.

While the listing itself isn’t particularly meaningful without an official announcement from Blizzard, it should be noted that it’s still up. Usually by the time accurate listings for as-yet unannounced games are reported, they’re pulled from the web. The fact that this one’s still up points to it being, well, kinda bogus. Or at least bogus in that they likely have no idea when a console version of Diablo III will be released, or how much it’ll cost.

The issue, of course, is that there have been rumblings of a console version of the game for months and months and months. All along the way, Blizzard has refused to confirm that the game will, in fact, be released, though it’s certain at this point that they’ve been working on a console version of the game in tandem with the PC version’s development.

So when a German retailer says, “yeah, it’s coming out, don’t sweat it, go ahead and pre-order,” while Blizzard hasn’t said anything yet, it’s hard to tell where on the rumor spectrum this falls. We all know it WILL happen. But that’s like if I owned an online store and put up a pre-order link for the new Zelda game for Wii U. We all know it’s coming out…just not when, or how, or what the hell it’ll be.
