Announced by Valve this morning was the official release date and price for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS: GO for short).

The game will be available on August 21, 2012 for Xbox Live Arcade, the PlayStation Network, and Steam (for PC and Mac systems). It will be sold for $15 on Steam and PSN, and the equivalent price of 1200 MS Points on XBLA.

CS: GO is playable on the show floor here at E3 2012 on both Microsoft and Sony’s consoles respectively, so we’ll be sure to drop in and see how the game is cooking.

I just pray that there’s surfing.

The game is not insanely impressive, it looks outdated even before launch, so it’s very nice to see that Valve is realistic about it (There is an exec of Activision having a heart attack somewhere in the world right now because of it) and charging a fair price out of the bat to get more attention than just the core CS players.

For me it still looks better than COD

          Yeah but gameplay-wise, I prefer CoD… or 1.6

First time a skill based FPS will be on the market. Sorry Halo isn’t as skillful as CS…
