Jason Rubin (not at all related to our very own Brian Rubin), co-founder of developer Naughty Dog and director of Crash Bandicoot and Jak and Daxter for the PlayStation and PlayStation 2 respectively, has been appointed as President of game publisher THQ.

Serving under Chairman and CEO Brian Farrell, Rubin will lead THQ as it focuses on making “licensed games for broad audiences” and developing “AAA ‘core’ games for multiple platforms.”

“Jason’s proven track record in the industry speaks for itself, and he is one of the brightest minds in the business,” said Brian Farrell.

“We believe he can be a game changer and can contribute immensely to executing on our strategy of delivering quality connected core game experiences.”

THQ plans to release several games in its 2013 fiscal year, including none other than Darksiders II, Saint’s Row: The Third – Enter the Dominatrix, Company of Heroes 2, Metro: Last Light, South Park: The Game and WWE ’13 – so cheers to your Mr. Rubin, we wish you the best of luck.

Also – just give us Darksiders II already!

I’m rooting for ya THQ. Screw peripherals and gimmicks and focus on your strong IP’s.

More saints row, more Metro, more darksiders.
