New Hitman: Absolution Trailer Offers Mass Violence

Square Enix is putting out Hitman: Absolution for Xbox 360, PlayStaiton 3, and PC on November 20, and every trailer I see makes this game look ridiculously awesome. It seems like all the best bits of Batman: Arkham City, but with more killing and less people dressed like Batman.

This trailer is fantastic. I’m a little squeamish about the whole “gratuitous violence against women” thing, but hey! Agent 47’s an equal-opportunity killer. And to be fair, they DID fire a bazooka at his hotel. They pretty much get what they asked for.

What do you think? I can’t decide which one I want more, this or that other killer in Assassin’s Creed III. Too many games to choose from. #firstworldproblems

        Have you played a hitman game? Pretty sure there wasn’t a nun massacre level. Hitman games (and most stealth games) were all about avoiding conflict and shootouts. Then, one day, devs decided that every game needed HARDCORE TACTICOOL ACTION!!! It started with Thief 3 (unlike Thief 1 and 2 you weren’t penalized for killing enemies), continued with Splinter Cell: Conviction (no more gadgets, focus on gunplay, mark and execute aka press button to win rubbish) and now it’s coming to Hitman. Stealth games used to be about precision and skill, and now the three largest stealth franchises in videogames have all adopted a linear action focused gameplay style. You could blame this on the jump to consoles, or the changing times, but the fact remains that true stealth games like Hitman: Blood Money simply aren’t being made anymore and it’s a damn shame that one of my favorite genres is in shambles. Metal Gear Solid is still pretty good, but considering Rising is coming soon, I doubt a stealth MGS will be coming any time soon.
