Unveiled by Warner Bros. Entertainment this morning was the upcoming Lord of the Rings game Guardians of Middle-Earth, a new multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) title in-development by Monolith Productions.
Set to release exclusively this fall on Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network, Guardians of Middle-Earth gathers up to 10 players in five-on-five competitive matches set in Middle-earth. There are over 20 guardians to choose from, including favorites like Gandalf, Sauron, Gollum, and Thrain – all of which can be used in the games all-PvP matches.
The game will support in-game voice chat, stat tracking and leaderboard support.
“The MOBA genre is wildly popular with PC players and we are excited to bring it to consoles through the lore of Middle-earth,” said Samantha Ryan, Senior Vice President, Production and Development at Warner Bros.
“The heroes and villains of Middle-earth are crafted in a way that perfectly intersects with MOBA game features, allowing the development team to create guardians with deep skills and abilities for gamers to master.”
A MOBA on consoles, you say? Well now I’ve seen everything.
Heck, it’s not even E3 yet!
