As you may have heard, next week at Machinima is Fan Appreciation Week, because you guys rule, and we appreciate you.

In addition to lots of surprises we have yet to announce (and a chance to get a close, personal, and probably disturbing call from Adam Kovic), we’re hosting a Retro Game Challenge in addition to a Blacklight: Retribution live stream next Tuesday, May 29. Here’s the schedule:

Blacklight: Retribution with fabulous prizes: 2:00 – 4:00 PM PST

Retro Game Challenge: 4:00 – 6:00 PM PST

Here’s the idea. You guys vote on what game we play on Facebook. Then, we have two hours to beat it. If we don’t show you guys the ending screen in those two hours, we get our lips waxed on camera. It’ll hurt like hell, but it’s the hurt of love. Because we love you.

To avoid the waxing, we need your help. On the day of the stream, please join us on Facebook and help us beat the game. That means hints, tips, codes, hand-drawn maps — we’re only using you guys and our two thumbs to beat this game, so we need all the help we can get.

Why are we doing this? Because we remember a time when you had nothing but yourself and your friends to beat a game. Conquering a hard-as-balls retro game was a team effort, you and your friends against the machine. Even though times have moved on, we still want to recreate that feeling, except with all our friends at Machinima.

So tune in for something a little different, and possibly to see us in terrible pain. Should be fun for all.

…except us.

So if someone decides to be a dick and be like beat Final Fantasy II in 2 hours you’re done for. I think something like Punch-Out would be awesomely fun to watch (“MY POOR THUMBS”).

Yeah, a game like FF2 would be unbeatable in 2 hours. That’s why we picked five games that are (somewhat) beatable.

We actually talked about Punch-Out… I’m not sure why we decided against it. Too much visual same-ness for a two-hour stream I think.
