Details for F2P Marvel Heroes MMO Emerge
The other day Developer Gazillion Entertainment released some info about their upcoming free-to-play MMO game, Marvel Heroes. The game’s story is written by Marvel superstar Brian Michael Bendis—and if you know who he is, this is either really good news, or kind of “meh” news (I myself am a bit burned out on Bendis…but that’s ME).
As you can see in the above teaser trailer, though, the gameplay looks reminiscent of Marvel Ultimate Alliance, in that you’ll have a high vantage point from which to see the action with lots of enemies to battle. Maybe some of you kids might think it looks like Diablo, too. That is probably a decent comparison. In fact, since the game will probably only give you control over one character at a time, maybe Diablo’s a better comparison…
In fact, the developer’s president, David Brevik, is credited as the creator of Diablo II. So, yeah, that’s probably a good place to go for similarities. Said Brevik in the press release:
“I’ve been a big Marvel fan for all of my life. Marvel Heroes represents the combination of Marvel IP with all of the knowledge and experience I gained creating Diablo. It is a dream come true. I’m excited to unveil Marvel Heroes and share this revolutionary MMO with both gamers and Marvel fans.”
The press release also notes that gamers will have a bunch of choices in terms of which characters they’ll be able to use, including heavies like Iron Man and Thor, to weirdoes like Squirrel Girl. I tell you what, though, I’m TOTALLY gonna use Squirrel Girl. She beat Thanos!
No definitive word yet on when the game will drop, but I’m sure we’ll hear more long before it happens. Excelsior.
