Capcom Warns About Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor’s Difficulty
The folks at From Software, the developers behind Capcom’s forthcoming Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor title for the Kinect, are known for making hard games. One game in particular—Dark Souls, which has made many a-gamer insane with its ridiculously high difficulty.
According to a post on Euorgamer today, people shouldn’t expect anything less in Steel Battalion, which comes out next month. The game’s producer, Kenji Kataoka, offered his insights into the game’s creation, explaining to Eurogamer about the relationship Capcom forged with From to allow the developer to remain true to their vision:
“Given From Software’s stern craftsmanship, we didn’t want to limit what they do, because that then gives us no advantage of working with From Software. If we don’t let them do what they want to do, then we could have chosen any developer. But we had to use From Software. So we said, yes, go ahead and go all out. Go nuts. So they did.”
But fortunately for gamers made of somewhat softer material (like me!), Capcom stepped in once in a while to keep things from going to full-on Hardcore City.
“There were some parts we as Capcom decided would be a bit too hardcore and too niche.
“One of the things From Software wanted to do was give players dramatic decisions. You have two comrades lying in front of you. You have the capacity to help one. Who would you choose, and why? It was going to be so you play the game and there were all these decisions you had to make in turning points of the game, and that was how the story was molded.
“But it became way too complicated. At the moment there’s enough to do with your hands. If there were more decisions to make it would have just confused the players. But that was something that was in the plan initially that had to be cut out.
“But all in all, most of it is as they wanted to create this.”
Overall, Kataoka notes that the game will still be hard as heck, saying, “we didn’t want to compromise. Capcom and From Software? Seriously, what do you expect?”
I’m kind of scared right now, you guys. I’m not sure I’m man enough to handle this thing…but I’m definitely gonna give it a try. Let’s just hope it’s hard because it’s hard, and not just because the Kinect sucks at interpreting gestures…you know, like almost every other Kinect game.

I don’t think I’m actually going to get my 150 dollars worth out of the Kinect. I was scammed by the flashy device that Steven Speilberg was toting as the “Minority Report device!” In reality, it’s a rehash of the same scam Nintendo pulled with the Wii… Except, had it been given the onboard CPU, it could have actually been something… Steel Battalion is going to suck ass… Maybe…
I tried the demo and the kinect controls mess up ALOT you should’ve seen me trying to use both hands to grab controls it will usually think your body is a arm
