It’s a sad day for blue-loving video gamers in Japan, as the Aqua Blue Nintendo 3DS, one of the two launch colors for Nintendo’s handheld, is going out of production. There now exists only five color varieties in the 3DS family, one of them coincidentally another shade of blue.

For Americans also worried about potential loss of the blue system shouldn’t worry just yet. Senior director of Nintendo of America’s corporate communications Charlie Scibetta mentioned to Joystiq that “We have nothing to announce about the Aqua Blue Nintendo 3DS in our territory at this time.”

Sorry for your loss Japan. But hey, you could play Ping Pong instead, just like these cats!

Big ups to F1fth and SuperNintendoGirl for making such awesomely sad Yoshi and Kirby sketches (up top)!
