Dragon Age: Dawn of the Seeker Animated Movie Exclusive Trailer
Check out this Machinima Exclusive trailer for Dragon Age: Dawn of the Seeker, a new movie that seems to feature cell-shaded CG animation. All in all, this looks like a pretty intriguing little movie, and if you’re into Dragon Age, I can’t see why you wouldn’t get a little excited.
Also, there’s lots of dragons. So if dragons are your thing, well, this movie’s for you. Not only that, but it’s directed by Fumihiko Sori, a Japanese director who was once nominated for Best Director at the Japanese Academy Awards—THAT’S PRETTY GOOD, Y’ALL.
Dragon Age: Dawn of the Seeker comes out on Blu-ray and DVD on May 29, which, you know, is soon.

This animation style reminds me of the movie Appleseed. It’s the same exact art direction and even the same tone. Seriously. Watch the two movies and watch the trailer again. Then again, it may be the same studio…
Sweet… I hope Bioware gets to make more Dragon Age stuff, one of my favourite western RPG settings.
Don’t like where Dragon Age is headed, ever since Dragon Age 2 I’ve dropped all interest for the series. The first game was a throwback to classic RPGs and was very enjoyable even if it had its flaws. The second game came out way too soon and changed things that were completely unnecessary to change. I mean gameplay improvements were the number one thing but they decided to opt for a completely different animation style which looks ridiculous and cartoony, took away a large portion of the choices of the type of character you can have, and simplified the game where it wasn’t overly complex in the first game. That set aside, I would be for a Dragon Age animated series but I don’t like the look of this because it looks too anime. This is a personal taste preference, I really don’t like anime, but I also think that that style of animation doesn’t fit with the universe and departs even further from what I think Dragon Age should be and far past the negative aspects of Dragon Age 2′s animation. inb4 “Yeah, well…that’s just like…your opinion, man.”
Personally, I don’t blame Bioware, I know all too well they are a great development company, however ever since they joined with EA, their games have been increasingly lacking in the quality we’re used to.
DA:O was amazing, one of the best RPG’s I’ve played since KOTOR. DA2 lacked tremendously, but mostly in gameplay terms, the story was great.
However I fear for DA3, with how much worse DA2 was in comparison to DA:O and Awakening, and with the recent upset with the Mass Effect series, I fear DA3 will be a big let down.
And I’m 90% sure it’ll take place in Orlais, there are too many hints to that in DA2, Bodahn and his son going there for example.
I’m not really a fan of Anime either, but I think I’ll watch this so that I can get a better insight into the story. I’ve always wanted to know more about Cassandra ever since she showed up in DA2.
Alright, just so everyone is on the same page… Bioware and Bungie are not studios that were/are being antagonized by publishers to turn good games bad. I’m sure EA and Microsoft would love to pump more cash out of our wallets, but that doesn’t put the blame of lousy products on them. The devs are responsible for timelines, productivity, controlling funding, and so on. ME2 sucked a donkey’s left nut because of choices Bioware made, not EA. ME3 let fans down because Bioware most likely: A) cut the development short due to time restraints and B) wanted to shave off content for future DLC. Personally, I’m just going to stop buying games from bad devs all together and enjoy what little this generation of gaming has left before the next one begins.
Oh, and I meant DA2 sucks big, hairy donkey balls, not ME2. ME2 was actually pretty good. :)
I’m sorry, but if you look at their record, their games have been great up to the time they joined with EA, and their games have started lacking more and more with each release.
I don’t blame Bioware. It’s been proven that publishers make developers rush and cut corners, LA Noire springs to mind with RockStar.
I agree. I always blame the publishers. Well, almost always. I like to look at the developers that don’t need publishers like Valve and Bethesda. Their games have been great cause they fund their own games. Sure, Bethesda is owned by Zenimax. But Zenimax doesn’t seem to interfere too much with development, which is good.
Look at Shinji Makami. He ran RE4 with an iron fist. They made one version with a release date set and everything, but then he dug his heels in the ground and told the higher ups that the game wasn’t to his standards. They scrapped it, delayed the release date, and reinvented RE4 into the game it is today. Devs have the power to make their opinions known. Bioware had the choice to request a later date for ME3. Instead, we got the choice of what color to paint the universe… Yes, I blame Bioware and EA jointly for the shape ME3 was shipped in. I’m also done believing anything they promise. Don’t point a finger at EA alone until you conduct an investigation about who made the call to toss the game out before it finished baking.
P.S. I painted the universe green… And it only cost me over $200 dollars and years of anticipation…
He wasn’t with EA.
EA is like the Emperor from Star Wars, you never say no if you value your company’s life. Like Peber11 said, those that don’t need third-party publishers tend to do better. And I’m sure Bioware can go it alone, like I said, they’ve made some of the greatest games of the last 10 years.
Trust me, Developers like what they do, and would make their games perfect if they could, it’s the fault of big publishers like EA and Activision that make their games suffer, this is true 9/10 times. Obviously there are some exceptions, but for the most part it is true.
