Free Stuff Friday: Parameters, A Flash Game with Boxes, Numbers, Clicking

If you want a study in video game minimalism, check out Parameters. It’s an extremely implicit and deceptively simple game in which you click on boxes and watch numbers get bigger. Essentially, you capture the empty squares to farm up exp and money, which you can then use to “attack” the yellow squares.

It might seem like mindless clicking, but there’s actually a surprising amount of strategy that comes in — especially when you realize that the game is operating on a timer. My clear time was well over 90 minutes, but I went to lunch god damnit.

This game essentially shut down the Inside Gaming section of Machinima for about 30 minutes, so give it a shot. Just make sure you don’t have anything pressing in the next hour or so.
