It’s been quite a morning at Inside Gaming, what with the leaks of details and images about the new Elder Scrolls Online MMO from ZeniMax Online. As you can see, we’ve got 17 images from the upcoming game in the slideshow below, and as revealed in the NeoGAF thread with the leaked details from the game, the images paint a picture of a more MMO-type experience than players might be used to from previous Elder Scrolls games.

First and foremost, I think, is the fact that the game will give gamers a third-person perspective, rather than the usual first-person gameplay they may be used to. For some commenters on the NeoGAF post, that’s a deal-breaker…though I’m not quite sure why. Is a first-person RPG really that much more desirable than a first-person one? Maybe it’s just me, but I greatly prefer third-person perspective when it’s an adventure-type situation. But hey, that’s ME.

Anyway, check out the slideshow…and don’t forget to check out the new trailer we posted earlier today.

You had the ability for third-person play in past Elder Scrolls games, including Skyrim. Skyrim though, was the only iteration where it was relatively functional to play in that fashion.

Hopefully they really knock it out of the park with this.

This is an excellent clarification. And I thank you. Set phasers to grateful.

I have a feeling if you do the “badguy” missions you’re going to be the one responcible for all the bad shit that happens latter in the series. Like you help the mythic dawn get what they need to start their deagon ritual for example.
