Call of Duty: Black Ops II Pre-Order Bonuses Come in Waves

After months of circling rumors, “leaks” of all kinds, and a variety of hints, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 is officially an official thing that’s officially coming out, November 13 if you didn’t hear, that’s official. Along with the official announcement comes a declaration of pre-order bonuses for the game from none other than industry sales leader GameStop.

Instead of the traditional “pre-order product A, get bonus B” approach usually implemented by retailers, GameStop is planning on rewarding those who pre-order earlier with more content. This system will work in what they’re calling pre-order “waves”, where gamers who pre-order at different times will receive certain and varied bonuses, but those who pre-order in the first wave will get ALL four waves of bonuses for no extra charge.

The first wave will consist of a double-sided Black Ops 2 poster, a Prestige token (used to unlock items in-game like double XP), and all of the bonuses yet to be announced in waves two, three and four.

If you decide to wait though, and the pre-ordering phase is already in a later phase, you won’t be able to get those earlier-wave bonuses.

The earlier you preorder, the more free stuff you get. Pretty straightforward.

So if you plan on buying the game that 22-bajillion other people are also likely to buy, you might as well get in early and get a boatload of free stuff.

    What about a hardened addition? and/Or premium version? I’d rather wait for that not to fussed about posters, prestige tokes and avatars etc

      Chances are, there wont be those editions, as MW3 didnt have them either.

        MW3 has a hardened edition. It comes with a year of Elite. I own one as a matter of fact.

    Doesnt seem to be in the UK though… even though Gamestop does have a UK branch. Stupid.

      i got my poster today , i also preordered it today, at the store and i got a code to unlock the future waves i think they come out the 1st of every month but i know the second wave you can pick up at game stop on june 1st to the last day of june

    @narj there will be a hardened edition, they just didnt announce it yet, you can still pre order the game then later upgrade to hardened

    Well I’m sure all the pre order bonuses are gonna be worth it, I’m wondering if I should pre-order now, or just wait to get some $20 credit at Amazon. Might be the first year I pre-order in May haha.

      I’d kinda like to know more about the multiplayer first, but I most likely intend to buy it.

    is anyone else hoping for a cyborg mason or a hologram Resznov? i loved the whole mind fuck story in B.A 1. also, How is woods alive? i thought he blew up with a guy wearing grenades after jumping out a window?

    After the videos of the trailer i guess they have to do the waves since a lot of COD followers are looking at it and wondering if its going to be any good. Yes all the other COD games have been good but this trailer shows “horses!” My guess is that the waves of pre-order bonuses are to get people to buy the game early on before they show more “horses” in more videos.

    I just pre-ordered it and I think it was a wise decision. I know people complain about CoD being so “cookie cutter”. But I think Black Ops was completely different. I’m expecting to see Black Ops 2 be just as good!

    You sure can cancel your pre order after you get all of the waves but you won’t have Black Ops 2 for a week or so. That poster pretty much covers the $5. From there it is just free stuff. Posters are usually $6 if they are gaming posters. Check out my website.

    I would imagine the rest of the bonuses would be downloadable content. I’m just going by the fact if you preorder you will get nuketown. Maybe you will get a zombies map or something.

    The only reason i even pre-ordered B.O.2 is for the zombies HALO 4 will be a much better game better than any C.o.D game could ever be.
