UPDATED: “Dawnguard,” New Skyrim DLC, Officially Announced

Dawnguard

A detail-free post on the Bethesda Blog today has announced forthcoming downloadable content for Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, called “Dawnguard.” The post offers the above image, and text that reads, “Coming this summer to Xbox 360. More details at E3.”

And that’s it.

Back in late March, we reported on the fact that Bethesda had filed for a trademark on “Dawnguard.” We speculated then that it’d be DLC, and it turns out we were right.

Though it’s kind of interesting that the Bethblog post doesn’t mention PC or PS3…could it be that Dawnguard will be Kinect-specific? Why else would it be coming out for Xbox 360 and nothing else?

UPDATE: Because it will be a timed exclusive, on the Xbox 360 for 30 days…if this post I wrote last year is any indication. WHOOPS. I FORGOT. SORRY YOUSE GUYS.

Begin rampant speculation on what you’ll do in Dawnguard…NOW.

Xbox exclusive? I don’t think Bethesda will stoop that low. Also W8 can run Xbox games so what will that mean for future PC and xbox games?

Buddy, are you high? W8 running xbox games? Source or GTFO.

The standard Windows 8 will be compatible with XBL in every way and that includes running Xbox360 games which I’ve seen, heard and talked about with a reliable friend who uses it at work.

Once again… Buddy, are you high? As it stands, they will allow cross play between the 360, PC, and Windows phone. The issue is that developing for a console means the same specs for all the games being sold. Developing for a PC requires multiple variables that must account for: OS, hardware, etc. The likelihood of 360/720 games running on a PC using W8 is the same as a 360 game running on the PS3.
Your “friend” is either a complete moron or a poor excuse to get out of providing a source. For example: http://www.winrumors.com/xbox-live-windows-8-gamers-can-play-against-pc-win-phone-and-xbox-video/

Your not disproving it by flinging insults at me, if you chose not to believe it I’m ok with that, and if I chose to believe it you should be ok with that.

Sorry for the offense. I was just citation patrolling. As the Police for Enforcing Networking of Internet Sources, P.E.N.I.S., it is my sole duty to troll around blogs. It’s a tough job. I’ve lost more rookies than I’ve promoted. Some bloggers have been scared for life. Many think my methods are extreme. Many call me an outsider; a vigilante. I say, there’s some P.E.N.I.S. in all of us… And if anyone should need my citation protection, just type the symbol below and you will get some P.E.N.I.S…. -It throbs for justice…

Bethesda did say that the xbox 360 would get the dlc about a month earlier than the pc and ps3.

    “More details at E3″? FUCK.

Welp, there goes my smugness at playing it on the PC.

Kinect exclusive? Maybe, but then it would be released for the PC too, since Microsoft is working for a PC version of kinect.

I doubt it will be an Xbox exclusive. Xbox 360 is getting each Skyrim DLC a month before other platforms though, so this probably means that Xbox gets Dawnguard in summer, then PS3 and PC get Dawnguard in the fall. Something like that.

I don’t think it is specific DLC for the 360/kinect. They would be sectioning out two parts of their revenue, which seems illogical. The DLC is more likely upgrades in the form of new shouts or whatnot. Also, I’m almost certain they will pair the DLC’s new abilities with a new storyline or quest lines. I’m still waiting for the updated vampire elder and warebear, though… And I can’t tell you how baddass it would be to ride a dragon across Skyrim… Women be shoppin’, man…

I hope they raise the level cap, add divorce options (I’m getting sick of aela) maybe more shapeshifting abilities.

And now it’s just a matter of time before Bethesda will file a lawsuit on the word ‘dawn’ in a game title.

Why does it come out on xbox360 that’s bullshit if you ask me what about the people with ps3 and pc that’s not fare. But it’s going to be cool and I think people with ps3/pc will be 30 hole days later.
