DTP Entertainment, German publisher of games like Divinity II, Cursed Crusade and their most recent project Awesomenauts, filed for insolvency today.

In short, insolvency means that a company is unable to pay off its impending debt, likely meaning that DTP Entertainment hasn’t been seeing as much return on investment as they’d probably hoped for.

“At the moment we’re unsure what this means for Awesomenauts,” said developer Jasper Koning from Ronimo Games. They’re “working hard to try and resolve the situation.”

It’s certainly a disappointing tidbit of news to hear, especially since Awesomenauts is completed and slated for release on May 2, not to mention featured as the PlayStation Plus Game of the Month for May.

Hopefully the situation can be worked out, if not for the publisher, at the very least for Ronimo games. As an individual that enjoyed the game’s showing at PAX East this year, I’ve got crossed fingers to see the game find its way to the digital marketplace.
