Blizzard Reveals Diablo III Stress Test Peak
Over the weekend, Blizzard opened the beta for Diablo III to one and all in advance of its May 15 release to subject the servers to a stress test—which they seem to have passed. According to the Twitter feed of Blizzard Community Manager Micah “Bashiok” Whiple, this weekend’s stress test peaked “at around 300k concurrent” users, though he was less specific with regards to how many total users played: “I don’t know…a lot.”
The weekend didn’t go totally smoothly, though. A post on Eurogamer reveals that some gamers had trouble logging into the open beta, and that Blizzard “advised players to keep trying despite the constant log-in errors.”
Personally, I didn’t have the chance to try out the beta. I was playing Dungeons and Dragons—LIKE A BOSS. My Halfling monk totally wrecked a bunch of dire wererats, and rolled a 32 for an acrobatics check to run along a wall Matrix-style and get to the other side of a room, avoiding a trap on the floor. No mouse clicking for me, bitches.

Why a halfing monk , and are you playing 4e?
Yep. At this point, whatever attachment I had to 3e and 3.5 is gone. I looked over my old d20 Modern book the other day, and I was like, “where the heck are the powers?!” I’m clearly too used to the new way of things to go back. Also: I really dig 4e these days. Just wish they didn’t revise stuff so much…
Sounds like the most badass game of D&D.
I’m extremely happy this conversation is happening
Diablo III–YESTERDAY’S NEWS. D&D is what all the cool kids do, baby! PASS ME DEM DICE
