Swedish studio Starbreeze, the studio that brought you Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena and the recently released Syndicate, is trying to acquire Overkill Software, the group who made Payday: The Heist.

The approval for purchase is currently resting on the shoulders of Starbreeze shareholders, so nothing is written in the books just yet. If the acquisition were to come to fruition, then the staff at Overkill would become apart of Starbreeze officially. They’ll complete this with their plans to set up a new office for Starbreeze in Stockholm.

“Starbreeze has graphical emphasis, and Overkill has total focus on innovative gameplay. Together we form a unique constellation of creative forces,” said Overkill Software creative director Ulf Andersson in a press release.

As I’m sure this acquisition will go through, I’ll go ahead and slap a mental pre-order down on Chronicles of Syndicate: Payday of Dark Athena.

An instant classic it shall be.
