Darksiders II Delayed by Two Months
Hot on the heels of news that THQ was starting to turn its fortunes around and focus on a brighter future with its next big title, Darksiders II, we’ve learned that the publisher will be delaying the game until August. It was originally slated to be released on June 26 for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC, but the extra time will give “additional time for polish and to ensure that all aspects of Darksiders II meet the high-quality bar the team is targeting,” said a post in the game’s official forums today.
The post also denies that the delay is related to recent layoffs at the game’s developer, Vigil Games. Though it doesn’t mention the other THQ-related news from today—it’s entirely possible that the delay is part of an effort by the publisher to schedule things more to their liking. How? I don’t know. A late-summer release date may be just what the doctor ordered in order to avoid competition from other games. Amazing Spider-Man is scheduled to hit on June 26, while Kingdom Hearts 3D comes out in late-July. Aside from Madden NFL 13, August seems to have a relatively sparse release schedule. This is all just a guess, mind you, but it sure does seem possible.
What do you think? Are you upset that Darksiders II is delayed? Or are you happy to have the developers squash more bugs?
