Amalur Sales Crack 400,000
While it’s not setting the world on fire Mass Effect style or anything, it looks as though Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, should be able to get at least one more sequel under its belt if sales data from its first two months of release are anything to go by. According to a post on Joystiq today, Amalur has sold 410,000 copies since its release in early February, selling a healthy 80,000 units in March.
David Riley, a spokesperson for the North American sales tracking company, NPD, that provided the data, said that the above-noted number is “an impressive figure for just two months, no matter how you slice it.”
I wouldn’t be surprised if we heard about a new installment in the Amalur franchise within the next couple of months. What say you, Machinimen and Machiniwomen? Would you pick up a sequel? Are you enjoying DLC? Or would EA be better off devoting resources elsewhere?

Honestly I’d like it if they put money elsewhere, since while this game in my opinion was ok, it wasn’t the great and enjoyable experience I was hoping for it to be. It sort of lacked the momentum for it to be something really really good to me… that and variety, it seemed to lack that too.
I guess I’d consider a sequal if Big Huge Games didn’t do the same thing over again (a really thin statement true but I don’t want to write a wall of words of what I think), or if they do call for a do-over then at least have it with some sort of multiplyer support or something. The DLCs? Geh, they only look different is all so I’m not really liking those.
Like most people on the interwebs, I’m completely on the hate EA bandwagon. But I’m kinda glad I broke out of that mentality to pick up this game. Agreed it has it’s problems, but honestly, I’m enjoying it a lot.
So short answer, yes. I would love to see a sequel. And yea, it would be nice if Big Huge address some of the issues people have brought up with this game. But judging from the backstory on Amalur’s website, it’d be sweet if the game was set in another time period =)
