Another Kickstarter has come and gone, but not without money being thrown hand over fist at it. After the maddening success that Tim Schafer saw with his company Double Fine and its Kickstarter project, Brian Fargo and his development team at inXile decided to follow in similar footsteps, only creating a sequel to an 80′s favorite — Wasteland.

Ending officially early this morning, the Wasteland 2 Kickstarter capped its official earnings (via donations) at $2,933,252 — a 325% funding of its original asking amount of $900,000. This superfluous amount of cash came from the over 61,000 donations to the project, with 12 giving $10,000 or more alone. Jinkees.

To celebrate, the team had a project-closing livestream last night in celebration of their newfound success. With the game slated for release in October 2013 though, I’m sure they’ve already packed up their confetti blasters, empty bottles of champaigne and lines of cocaine from their desks in favor of getting started on the game.

Good luck to you inXile, we’ll see you and the game later on. We have faith that you’ll use our money properly…

Alright, just one more for good measure.
