Kinect Focused Gears of War: Exile Cancelled

“Let’s just bury the hatchet now.

Gears of War: Exile was an unannounced game that I can’t give any details about that has since been cancelled.”

These are the words of Epic Games designer Cliff Bleszinski in a discussion with GameSpot regarding the once under-development Kinect game. It might be the only game in history to be announced and cancelled in the same day.

The Gears-themed Kinect title was actually trademarked back in January of 2011, and was speculated to be an on-rails experience for the Xbox 360.

Should we feel sadness at the loss of a new Gears of War game, or be happy that, of the games canned so far, we lost an on-rails, Kinect-centric Gears title?

You tell me.

Kinect doesn’t have a core future. If they had included the onboard CPU, it might have been something revolutionary. Now… The best we get is Dance Central and a kiddy Star Wars game… No, Gears Kinect would have disappointed for sure. Thank God these guys knew better.

I agree with Mugenite! I never got kinect because I felt there were no hardcore games and cconsidering the cost I’d rather get some 360 games! Maybe they should focus on a prequel to GOW1 or a whole new story arc for GOW4 maybe a civil war?
