The other day we reported that concept art from a cancelled, Slant Six-developed Star Wars: Battlefront game had been found on the disc for Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City. Today, Past to Present Online posted some mysteriously obtained footage from Free Radical’s time working on the game, which can be seen above.
The video comes from an alpha build of the game, says the post. As you can see, the footage offered players a pretty full-seeming Star Wars experience, what with all the lightsabers, Millennium Falcons, and laser beams and whatnot. THAT’S STAR WARS.
A post on Eurogamer about the footage notes that Free Radical was working on the game for about two years until LucasArts cancelled the project. The studio was bought out by Crytek, while the game is now being developed by Spark Unlimited, it’s said.
Star Wars. Never enough Star Wars.
Time to go play Kinect Star Wars. There’s dancing.

i played battefront 2 the other day and had a blast. it upsets me to know that this nearly happened. sad face : (
Ok… That footage almost made me crap my pants with how good it looked. Battlefront 2 has some of my best gaming memories to date. But in an ideal world for me, DICE would get this license. I mean, Star Wars Battlefront was heavily inspired by Battlefield, so I say LucasArts should license this to DICE, give them the moneys theyre getting from The Old Republic, and make the entire gaming world happy forever…
That would be good if it weren’t for the fact that Bioware made The Old Republic. However DICE did make Battlefield 3 and all previous versions, imagine Star Wars in the Frostbite 2 engine…
This calls for a kickstarter
yo good post man. btwyou know warface is going to be absolutely amazing when the beta comes out. not a lot of people knows about it, it seems..
