MINOR SPOILERS
Agreed. If it had stopped right there with Anderson, and then slowly started the clips of consequences for my past choices... I would have been content. I didn't need some alien boy to make me feel like a tool... Bioware needs to go back, fix inconsistencies, give us the consequences at the end, and, for the love of God, show us Tali's F***ing face!!! I went through 3 games just to romance her! WTF was that pixilated photo?! I nearly ripped my hair out!!!!

Oh, and f***ing killl Vega... He was the most retarded character I have ever seen... And that engineer on his floor... And Chobot... Seriously, why did they put those three in the game? I would have rather them sacrificed all those mini-quests on the citadel, cut out those three, and then cut out multiplayer entirely so that I can have a proper ending.... Vega.... Damn you...

Whoever came up with the indoctrination theory was a complete retard. No, it wasn't some high Shepard was on. He actually went out and did that. MINOR SPOILER - ---- At the end of the game, the conversation with the man and boy meant one of two things: Shepard survived or that Bioware was considering making a new series in the form of prequels. Bioware kept talking about the Harvest and Contact wars as if they were Lucas' Clone wars, so they just might. The only thing they could do now is sweeten the journey to the end and maybe toss in one more clip that doesn't completely p*ss the fans off. Indoctrination theory = bullsh** :D

Soul,

Very well said. Indeed, the industry and especially certain publishers/devs are moving in a direction I have been nervous about for some time. We get less content per our $60 retail and more DLC after launch. And to be fair, I know the CoD map packs are ridiculous. What scares me was the fact that another publisher, EA, is starting to mimic Activision. I have to this date refused to buy any DLC packs, including those from ME2 and ME3 because I hate losing what might have been included in the original deal to begin with. After this gen of consoles, I might consider pushing to PC gaming if the consoles fail me. I just hope that I can still call myself a gamer ten years from now...

Soulprovider, i may hate the ending but i don't hate the product. Get a grip man. If bioware is half decent, and i know they are, then they will learn from there mistakes and fix the problem. Otherwise, if you hate the entire game then don't play it.

I may hate the ending but i stand clear in giving Bioware a chance to fix this mess.

wow.....just wow......... you have been brainwashed my friend

As a consumer your entitled to make certain that the creator of the product delivers on their promises even if its used car dealer there can sometimes be lemon laws in place depending on your state but back to my example. Lets apply a real world example to this logic. If you purchase a car and the cars ad states that the car is brand spanking new, with a cd changer, stereos, working head lights, break lights, flashers, auto windows, working dashboard, working transmission, All fluids checked and filled, car cleaned, and etc.

but you get a car where everything else is correct but they take out the muffler to sell to you later and the transmissions not working do you just take the car and drive it home saying i'm content and don't deserve to get these things fixed, no you go to the dealer and say hey wait a minute if you don't fix this then i'm using my legal right as a consumer to report you to the FTC and can sue you to get things fixed. The dealer has one of two options they can A) stick to their guns and watch a lawsuit is files and word of mouth spreads about their company or B) they can put things right and fix the everything to make good on their promise and hope that you don't tell your friend and family your experience.

Legally you can demand Option B, if you choose option A your telling the company that they can continue to push your limits to see what else they can get out of you before you snap and then they will do the same to a new prospective customer.

As a consumer if you are promised something in order to pay money for it, it is considered a verbal contract which can work both ways, If you pay for the item the creator has an obligation to make good on that contract, if you retract your money for the item after the creator has sent it to you they can use the law to the full extent on you. These laws regarding contracts were not designed solely for corporations they were designed to protect both parties regarding a transaction.

I don't want to here that I should be content receiving a half done product, if I am required to pay the full amount for my rent, health insurance, car, cellphone, food and my Hobby you can Bet that I demand the full use of those services.and there is no difference when it comes to a movie or a game, if its bad I make my voice heard, when the industry is bad I make my dollar heard.

leaving a response to megenite again: I understand what your saying and for the most case I don't care what other fans do to enjoy their games and what the corporations do to make money, the problem I was trying to address, is that that the gaming community at large not the 10% like us, the community in itself is not asking for these changes to be made whats happening is the same thing thats happening in our country right now, the corporations are pushing the boundaries to see how much they can get away with, when they are stopped they make it go away and then find another avenue to accomplish what they want(ex. Sony was successfully sued and regarding an antipiracy software they put into their cd's that cause some major damage to customers computers, two years later they now sell to corporation like EA an anti piracy software that does the same thing only in different form and industry but instead of a media frenzy lawsuit like there was with the music industry so the practice remained and down right violates a consumers rights but they got away with it, now sony's next bit of consumer violation is the act that if you accept their term and conditions to use their gaming consoles full capabillities you are hear by banned from participating in a class action lawsuit against them shortly after the whole hacking scandal. Convenient that very few people actually caught that, we know this be we the people who research and go to sites like machinima pay attention to the details ,the community at large whether it be adult or children either do not care or are completely unaware of how their consumer rights are being violated., I don't like the practice because I am a business major and it goes against every principle of how business are supposed to operate, in a business you aim to make your clients respect you and want to come back its almost like they companies have gotten so big they they don't care about their very people who pay their salaries. The consumer/tav payer..

I understand the meaning of coherence (I’ve written many stories and research papers), especially how you referenced it. However, I still don’t think you’re on the right train of thought. You think people are mindless zombies purchasing these games? The devs are giving the fans exactly what they ask for. A boy at school tells his friends to go buy the next CoD so they can have a new experience together? Why not? The point is that they're having fun. That's kind of the point of gaming in general...

People line up and break CoD records annually because these devs have something unique to offer every year and then some. I have all three MW titles and Black Ops on my shelf and don’t regret a single penny spent. The narratives were compelling. The characters were defined. The protagonists and antagonists were always hard to determine. I was psyched to see the conclusion of Makarov since he was such a unique antagonist.

As for DLC... What are you going to do? Sue them? They aren't making video games for pleasure. They are doing for money, just like all businesses out there.

And you’re boycotting? Sure. Go ahead. No one’s sitting on your chest and forcing you to buy every good game that comes out. Just don't let the name of the dev influence your decision to pick up a good game. That would suck.

Love or hate it, this is how the industry is moving. RE is no longer scary because action brings in larger income. ME is losing its allure because of the business choices Bioware and EA made in the end (see what I did there?). So stop worrying about the fans and focus on what you enjoy. The fans can't ruin a gaming experience unless you let them...

Why not? The point is that they’re having fun. That’s kind of the point of gaming in general…

As for DLC… What are you going to do? Sue them? They aren’t making video games for pleasure. They are doing for money, just like all businesses out there.

And you’re boycotting? Sure. Go ahead. No one’s sitting on your chest and forcing you to buy every good game that comes out. Just don’t let the name of the dev influence your decision to pick up a good game. That would suck.

Love or hate it, this is how the industry is moving. RE is no longer scary because action brings in larger income. ME is losing its allure because of the business choices Bioware and EA made in the end (see what I did there?). So stop worrying about the fans and focus on what you enjoy. The fans can’t ruin a gaming experience unless you let them…

Ignorance is bliss. Anybody that played me1 and 2 will agree, the ending is BULLSHIT, 2 of the choices are diametrical against shepards character, and there was no ending, it left it to interpretation and no, the choices you made did not matter, exploding the relays killed off everybody you worked so hard to unite.
The catalyst character was also BULLSHIT, and not having the option to go against what he was saying threw out anything you had accomplished out the window.
This is something that can't be undone. For that I say, farewell Bioware. I am keeping my money.

In retrospect to the common belief of a horrible ending I still believe that the game would deserve a ten out of ten. The Game was exhilarating all up until the last few minutes. My issue with the indoctrination theory is that it's more of an excuse to find a better ending than what bioware has given us. Yes this theory could make sense and yes the ending was even worse than the show ending to lost. In light of all the hell that has happened to bioware lately, we as the fans can hope for bioware and their new ideas of downloadable content.

Look, in all honest truth I kinda saw this horrible ending coming. Bioware has not been on a role lately, if you haven't noticed. Dragon Age 2 was decent but wasn't even a good game compared to its predecessor. The Old Republic was not only 60 dollars but had a 15 dollar monthly fee. The game in of itself was like playing every other KOTR game except there happened to be other players around you. How in gods name can anyone charge you this much for something this ok at best, that happens to have multiplayer. Of course there was that mass effect book problem but that wasn't so much as bioware's fault. Lastly we have the actual game. The Tali photo-shop thing was a true act of laziness and there was that Javik thing. In light of everything that has happened yes i am a bit pist at bioware.

@meugenite - everything I said in my original comment is correct all you did was flesh it out. Narrative coherence is when a story comes together with a proper beginning middle and end and does not leave the user with unanswered questions that have not been properly explained.

I realize only now that narrative coherence doesn't exist in itself as a single word, the terms exist individually are intertwined I will list out their definitions here

narrative: A narrative is a constructive format (as a work of speech, writing, song, film, television, video games, photography or theatre) that describes a sequence of non-fictional or fictional events. The word derives from the Latin verb narrare, "to recount", and is related to the adjective gnarus, "knowing" or "skilled".[1] courtesy of wikipedia

wikipedia has way to many listing for coherence i'll have to search through my college english composition books later to find the full definition
coherence: to break it down, coherence is basically the flow of a story, or essay, it draws on the established information provided at the introduction to the essay or story, a document or story without coherence will ultimately fail to keep the attention of the reading audience and in turn very quickly dissolves and the reader or viewer cannot find a leg to stand on, Even the journalists on this site have to utilize coherence in their articles or the article breaks down into ramblings of mad men.

in actuallity its not that I hate the fans of those franchises, far be it for me to criticize someone for liking something or hating it, the problem i'm seeing is a pattern of stupidity forming where people are becoming more and more gullible and are willing to accept anything, the term "it is what it is" comes to mind when looking at how these people think. It doesn't concern me as much if they were children under a certain age its more concerning about when adults fall for it. What matters to me is when companies like activision put out a 3 map, map pack dlc for 15 bucks for a game that is mostly multiplayer and then post numbers like 300 million dollars worth of revenue. To break that down 100k copies of the dlc would only make 1.5mil, so to sell 300 million copies of the dlc you looking at 20 million copies sold. From a business major's stand point theirs a profit to be had from the gullibility of others, same goes for what capcom and EA are doing now, they see a profit increase by cutting apart the game and selling it later on as DLC, bethesda and 2kgames were the test market to see how many people bought the broken steel dlc, or duke nukems the doctor who cloned me dlc(me included not going to lie, they are both good dlc's but it doesn't change what they represent) and we the gaming community fell for it and we'll fall for it again and again, I know why the games ending is horrible but it doesn't change that that regardless of how you view the ending whether indoc theory or not it was left unfinished so they could sell you the rest later. That was the point I was trying to make, we the gaming community need to stop falling for it as a whole not as individuals. This is where I make my stand, Capcom, EA, Activision, 2kgames are at the top of my boycott lists, I'll start support good developers like rockstar, remedy, those guys who may the serious same prequel and mostly indie developers but the moment they are aquired by the above publishers, they go on the boycott list. I tired of being bent over
