Battlefield 3 Patch for Xbox 360 Out Today, Server Rentals Now Available

By Landon Robinson | 03 April 2012 | 8 Comments

Launching on Xbox 360 today is the latest patch/update for DICE and EA’s Battlefield 3. While PlayStation 3 users received these gameplay fixes and features last week, all console versions have now been successfully updated to their latest versions.

Aside from standard gameplay fixes, the patch introduces the “rent a server” functionality. This allows console gamers to rent private servers to play on with their friends, or even make public to play with the world.

As pointed out in the video above, the focus on these server rentals is to allow the renter the ability to customize the options of their server, be it map/game mode rotation, vehicle enabling/disabling, and more.

Renting a single server will cost $1.50 for one day and up to $65 for a 90 day period. As you’ll see in the video, renting a server is about as seamless as it gets – just hit up the in-game menu and start customizing.

And when you get down to it, those rental prices aren’t half bad. Think about it – an evening of Battlefield 3 with your buddies that you customize and control to your liking…for only $1.50?

You’re only a pepperoni pizza away from an awesome Friday night right there.

YAY! THEY REMOVED LIKE 90% OF THE PS3 SERVERS SO I CAN CHOSE BETWEEN SERVERS WITH RETARDED RULES!

Atleast I can look or rent a server where the mini-map is hidden.
I still hate the BF3 hardcore mode.

Yes, as opposed to every other game where you can just host it yourself for free? Why would you even post such a stupid remark?

Sure, it’s disappointing that the game doesn’t allow you to host private lobbies, but they could charge you an absolute truckload to rent a server.

Given the feature set of the game, I consider the prices more fair than unfair.

      That’s why.

Doing this removed 90% of the official Dice servers, atleast it did on the PS3. And so many of the options one can do with renting a server, they should be available for free without having to rent a server. It’s ridiculous.

I get the whole “Private server for fun”-part, but I don’t like that they’re removing features.

I unfortunately don’t own the game for PS3, so I wasn’t aware of this happening. Doesn’t seem like a fair trade-off at all.

I don’t see myself putting this back in my PS3 anytime soon.

I have a Xbox 360 and I just install the april update and I don’t like it. Can I uninstall Battlefield 3 patch? If I uninstall it this will affect my online pass?

Maybe they should change the name to Jewfield. Seriously, I have to pay M$ live then I have pay again…F that! I wonder at Dice headquarters if you have to pay for the toilet paper when you use they’re toilet.
