Assassin’s Creed III Murdering Ubisoft’s Pre-Order Records
Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed franchise is one of the most popular new IPs to hit video gaming in the last few years. And despite the fact that we’ve had new versions of Assassin’s Creed II without much delay between each release, interest in Assassin’s Creed III seems pretty damn high.
Well, apparently, the proof is in the pre-orders. A press release published by Ubisoft today reveals that Assassin’s Creed III is on track to become the highest pre-ordered game in the company’s history.
Having been available for pre-order for only three weeks, the game has already gotten ten times as many pre-orders than Revelations did in the same length of time, while it’s reached Brotherhood’s life-to-date US pre-order numbers. Revelations currently holds the record for most pre-orders in Ubisoft’s catalogue (which also has all the Tom Clancy games, Rayman, Driver, Prince of Persia), and the press release predicts that this new game will surpass it.
Said sales and marketing VP Tony Key in the press release:
“On October 30th players will experience the biggest game launch in Ubisoft’s history with the highly anticipated release of Assassin’s Creed III. With a development cycle of three years, Assassin’s Creed III is the true next-generation experience of the Assassin’s Creed brand. The production value of the game, combined with the biggest marketing commitment we’ve ever made, will make Assassin’s Creed III the highest-selling Assassin’s Creed game ever. Additionally, the new setting and hero makes this the perfect time to jump into the series for anyone that has not previously played an Assassin’s Creed game.”
Hopefully the game will actually live up to the hype, too.

Ubisoft for Assassin’s Creed III: “true next-generation experience…”
Ubisoft for Brotherhood: “full, new adventure…”
I liked this quote best…
Ubisoft after AC2: “I don’t think there’s going to be an Assassin’s Creed in 2011. I think we’re going to let it breathe a bit and really focus on bringing something new and exciting for the next time around. This [Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood] is the end of Ezio’s story. This is it.”
wtf about Revelations? Yeah… These guys just keep hyping each new title and crapping over the previous… I’m done with hyping…
Read the details for god’s sake. And this is a new setting and hero. You gotta buy it.
