Starbreeze brought you gruesomely great games like The Darkness, the recently released Syndicate and my personal favorite: Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena. Now, the developer is hard at work on their next title, Cold Mercury.

But, there’s a catch. It’s implementing the newly-popular (and often wildly successful) Free-To-Play business model.

In an interview with Industry Gamers, CEO of Starbreeze Mikael Nermark stated that this new game doesn’t indicate the company’s disinterest in AAA titles in the future, mentioning that they’re currently discussing retail projects with several publishers.

So, in short, Starbreeze is still pursuing AAA games like they always have, but are dipping their toes into the wondiferous land of Free-To-Play as well?

More power to you Starbreeze, I’ll take a Chronicles of Riddick F2P MMO any day of the week.
