Draw Something Developer to Release Farmville-Wu Tang Clan Mashup Next Week
Last weekend, my brother invited me to start playing Draw Something, a mobile phone game that seems to have suddenly exploded, and may soon eclipse games like Words with Friends and Angry Birds in popularity. The developer, OMGPOP, is enjoying quite a bit of success as a result, which makes pretty much anything else they’re doing worthy of mention.
So when I discovered that their next game is going to basically be Farmville crossed with the Wu Tang Clan, I kind of couldn’t help but be fascinated.
Called Streets, the OMGPOP-developed game launches on Facebook next week. A post on Business Insider offers some details, including the developer’s CEO Dan Porter (above, pictured with Ghostface Killah) saying that The Street will be “the realist game ever on Facebook.”
Never mind that “realist” doesn’t mean what Porter thinks it does. “Think Denzel Washington in American Gangster,” the CEO adds. Not only will it include unreleased Wu Tang Clan tracks, the game’s currently being developed for mobile devices, too, so if Streets is a hit, you’ll be able to play on the go soon enough.
Here are a couple screenshots. The whole thing looks very “streets ahead.”
