UPDATED: New BF3 “Close Quarters” Trailer Blows Things Up Inside the House

By Brian P Rubin | 13 March 2012 | 15 Comments

For some reason, the bit in this new trailer for BF3‘s “Close Quarters” DLC, where you’re sneaking around couches and stuff, it reminded me of Batman: Arkham City. Is that weird? That’s probably weird.

The new DLC pack for EA’s shooter comes out this June for PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3, the last of which will offer access to the content a week before the others. As the trailer tells you, it’ll have four new maps, all of which emphasize, well, “Close Quarters” combat, meaning that things will be tight, messy, and kind of insane. Should be interesting.

Your thoughts? Anyone still playing BF3 out there?

Eh, Battlefield 3 is a lot of fun, but I really don’t play it enough to justify buying more DLC for it.

Trash this DLC, WE WANT TO KILL DINOSAURS!

It feels wierd that they are marketing it this early though…

    …cqc in bf3 will just be a shotgun-fest

Yeep, with fag rounds. No skill required.

and yes, you saw what I did there

Personally, CQC in BF3 is such a fustercluck; think how Conquest on Operation Metro feels. These CQC maps’ popularity is mainly due to the fact that you can grind for unlocks.

With all that said, the maps will have lowered player counts(so no 64 player mayhem PC users), 10 new weapons with 10 new assignments (similar to B2K), and 4 new maps in total. I’ll estimate right now that it’ll probably cost $15 (1200msp for you X360er’s).

I think its gonna be alright, i just hope that the shotguns dont ruin it. hope the assignments dont encourage players to play with them.

Too bad we have to pay for all these DLC’s .. i already bought the solid copy of the game + the B2K DLC .. It’s very cool, but idk if it was worth 15$ ..

It’ll be fun for around five minutes and then everyone will camp with frag round shotguns. If anyone has played Operation Métro on Conquest with a full 64 player server, imagine what a clusterfuck this will be.

But the trailer did look nice.

The USAS will be abused… Frag rounds need a serious nerf or become unavailable on cqc maps like metro. Here’s to hoping DICE doesn’t start catering to the no-skill-high-reward modern warfare playstyle

Hey, in Modern Warfare, shotguns aren’t the be-all end-all of CQC. As much as I admire the balancing in Battlefield, at least it’s usually a pretty fair contest no matter what you’re using (short of a sniper rifle) in Call of Duty. With Battlefield it feels like if you have an assault rifle, or even a carbine, in CQC and you go against a shotgun user, you’re going to drop dead before you even know what hit you.

I would rather go out by a pew pew gun than a retarded boom boom shotgun. Can we haz nerf?

Really? There SHOULD be no contest between a shotgun and an AR at 5 meters or maybe even 7.

    how much?
