Walking Dead Getting Social with New Facebook Game

This is another one of those instances where the headline pretty much says it all. Apparently AMC and Eyes Wide Games have partnered to make AMC’s The Walking Dead Social Game, which I’ll now and forever more refer to only as Walking Dead Facebook. A post on ComicsAlliance offers some details, noting that the game will feature turn-based combat, and that it’ll be launching on Facebook in April.

This is the latest effort to snap up some nerd-cred and enthusiasm via Facebook games, as the Avengers Facebook game seems to be getting all my comic-geek friends all up in a tizzy. That, too, is a turn-based strategy game based on a popular comic franchise that’s branching out into filmed media.

We’ve also got a few screenshots if you’re into that kind of thing. Personally, I’ll probably skip this one. The Avengers game is already more than I want out of Facebook. I’ve only played that one to level 2 and my interest has already waned. I can imagine that most gamers will feel similarly about this one, while less game-oriented Walking Dead fans (like those who are hooked on the show) will have a new thing to do at work that isn’t work besides Farmville. So for that alone, I guess that’s a good thing.
