Call of Duty Confirmed for Vita this Autumn

If there’s ever going to be a game that will move a lot of Vita units, it’s going to be Call of Duty—at least, that’s what Sony thinks.

According to a video on GameTrailers from Friday, the very Britishly-named Guy Longworth, Sony’s Senior Vice President of PlayStation Brand Marketing, the Vita will see an installment in the Call of Duty franchise this fall.

Speaking about what his two teenage sons are enjoying on the many Vita systems dad must be bringing home from the office, Longworth said, “And of course, in the autumn, they’re really looking forward to Call of Duty on Vita, and we think that’s going to be an absolute game-changer for the platform.”

As of now, there haven’t been any similar announcements for a Call of Duty title on the 3DS—though Modern Warfare 3 and Black Ops before it were both released for the Nintendo DS. No word yet on whether or not Activision will be bringing their megahit FPS franchise to the 3DS, but I wouldn’t be surprised if we heard that it was on the way at some point.

On the other hand, if Sony can secure an exclusive version of the game for the handheld—which, I’m pretty sure, is capable of in-game chat where the 3DS is very much not—that’d be quite the coup. It’d certainly help move systems later this year when it drops. Game-changer? Yes, I do think it could be.

Even if it came out on both 3ds & vita id get both because assumably theyd both have different features..One system has 3d capabilities the other has hd graphics, a front and back touch screen & built in left and right analog sticks. Both systems can be utilized for but all in the the vita version will look better obviously.

But you have to admit that for the most part, everyone “loves” Call of Duty. If Call of Duty comes to the Vita, it will definitely give the children of the Western world that still play Call of Duty a reason to buy a Vita.

Anyway, for the most part, I’ll still be getting a Vita anyway. Not for Call of Duty, but for the idea that some wicked RPGs may be released for it.

“The children of the western world.”

I’m pretty sure people of all ages across the world buy Call of Duty, judging from the numbers of copies they sell.

I played MW on the DS, it was a piece of rubbish to say the least. I would say a Vita version would be a buttload better, and having the dual sticks is a must for FPS (one of the features the DS is severely lacking)

Not exactly a huge selling point for me as im not the greatest COD fan, I will be looking more at Uncharted and LBP for the Vita, and any RPGs that come out. Hand helds and RPGs are a match made in heaven to me.
