Activision Working on TMNT Game?

Last week at the New York Toy Fair, an eagle-eyed reporter spotted a sign over at Playmates, the makers of the toys for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, noting a partnership with game publisher Activision. As some of you may know, there’s a new show coming out for the franchise on Nickelodeon, and so there’s a big push for all things Turtley right now.

While it’s far from a confirmation, the sign, courtesy of ToyArk, shows that Playmates has a “cross-promotion” partnership with Activision. This would seem to refute rumors from a few weeks ago that Rocksteady—the developers of the recent Arkham Batman franchise of games—were working on a TMNT game of their own. Rocksteady is owned by publisher Warner Bros. Interactive, and, as far as I know, is a competitor of Activision. Now, it’s possible that, maybe, Activision snapped up the handheld/mobile rights to the franchise, while perhaps WBI holds console rights…but at this point, the sign photo above is better proof than the Rocksteady rumor ever was.

I’m definitely into an Activision-made TMNT game, but the seeming death of the Rocksteady rumor still makes me a sad panda.
