Rumor: THQ Shuttering Japanese Offices
Japanese gaming news website, Game Watch, has reported today that THQ plans on closing their Japanese office on February 29, no doubt continued fallout from the dismal fiscal year the company has been having.
Of course, reading the site’s report is pretty tough, since it’s in Japanese, and Google Translate’s having a hell of a time with it:
“Japan is the reason for the closing office THQ, THQ due to poor performance of rice serious,” says the post.
Also: I have no idea what that means.
Fortunately, a post on Joystiq explains that it’s not yet known what kind of support existing THQ titles will receive in Japan with the reported closure. So far, THQ hasn’t issued any kind of statement or announcement regarding the reports. But I wouldn’t be surprised if this rumor turned out to be pretty true.
